David is a lifelong Methodist who grew up at Lafayette Street UMC in Shelby, NC. Prior to his appointment in Jamestown he served for four years in Salem, Newton, Gibsonville, Winston-Salem, and Kings Mountain, NC. David is a graduate of NC State University (BS, 1985), Emory University (MDiv, 1994), and Southern Methodist University (DMin, 2006). After finishing at NC State, he served as a Sales Engineer for a Swiss textile machinery firm for six years.
David has served in a number of different roles in the Western North Carolina Conference. He is currently the Director of the Licensing School for Local Pastors. He has served on the Board of Ordained Ministry, the Commission on the Status and Role of Women, and Congregational Development. He participated in the Reynolds Program for Church Leadership and the Reynolds Leadership Academy for Evangelism and Discipleship.
