Our Mission
Our Vision
Our Values
Christ Centered
We strive to stay focused on Christ alone by being committed to teachings, following his example, and sharing his love and grace with all persons, regardless of differences.
Biblically Rooted and Relevant
We believe that the Bible is inspired by God and offers guidance and direction about who God is and who we are as human beings. Our ministry together is grounded in scripture - both individually and corporately.
Weslyan
Our Methodist history is rooted in the teachings and practices of John Wesley; the belief in the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit); the centrality of grace; personal and social holiness; and the primacy of Scripture, along the tradition, reason, and experience for practical and theological discernment. Wesley's General Rules guide our behavior: 1) Do no harm 2) Do good 3) Stay in love with God.
Mission Directed
God calls us to serve by offering hope and healing to others near and far.
Discipleship Pathway
We value every stage of life and commit to reaching and discipling every age and stage of life.
Ministry of All Believers
We believe in helping everyone discern their role in ministry and equipping them to serve faithfully.
The Decision: United Methodist or Global Methodist?
A called Church Council meeting was held on Thursday, March 30, 2023. The purpose of the meeting was to receive the recommendation from the Discernment Team regarding the issue of disaffiliation. As always, the Council meeting was open to all church members. The Discernment Team recommended that we not enter the process to disaffiliate. Their recommendation can be found here.
The Church Council voted and agreed with the recommendation.
The process and how we got here
Our Discernment Committee offered a forum on Sunday, October 23rd. This forum allowed us to share where we’ve been as a denomination and where we are as a church. This was an opportunity for us to come together and discuss these topics and ask questions. Here, you can access the video and PDF documents "A," "B," & "C" that was presented at the meeting.
A second forum was held on Sunday, January 8th. Rev. Earl Bradshaw from Mt. Pleasant UMC was here to offer a presentation on the Global Methodist Church. This meeting was not recorded.
Our 3rd meeting was held on Sunday, February 19th at 3:00pm in the Sanctuary. Pastor David arranged to have our District Superintendent, Rev. Bev Coppley present the benefits of remaining a United Methodist Church.
On March 1st, Pastor David held a Town Hall Q&A meeting in the Sanctuary concerning Discernment, Disaffiliation and continuing United Methodist Church.
