A Moment in Time

Caring for someone with dementia can be incredibly difficult. Isolation, depression, boredom, stress, and frustration often afflict both the caregiver and the cared-for. A Moment in Time is a social gathering for people with dementia as well as their care partners. It is a stigma–free environment to gather, share, and enjoy activities and refreshments with people who are going through similar seasons of life.

Alzheimer’s Support Group

A caregiver support group provides caregivers a regular time for social interaction outside of the home. These groups offer a safe place for expressing and validating the emotional struggles that accompany the work of memory care. Caregivers can also brainstorm creative solutions for navigating challenges related to caring for a loved one during each of the stages of dementia, which is often invaluable to those new to this important work.

Prayer Warriors

Our Prayer Warriors continually intercede in prayer for the church and its ministries, and for our local and global communities. They pray for those on the prayer list published in the church’s newsletter as well as for special requests that come through the church office.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer shawls have been made for centuries. They are universal and embracing; they comfort and enfold; wrap and warm; mother and hug; and shelter and embrace. Shawls can be used for: undergoing medical procedures; birthing, nursing a baby; during an illness and recovery; during bereavement – there are endless possibilities! This is a “quiet” ministry. Join us and put your needles and hooks to good use, bringing comfort and prayer to those in need.

Tender Loving Care

TLC is a card–sending ministry that fosters fellowship within our church family and beyond by sending cards and notes of encouragement as well as notes of compassion in times of illness and loss.

We want to help – just let us know how. Visit jumc.org for more details on Member Care.

Home Member Care

Being stuck at home can leave you isolated and anxious. Our Congregational Care team works diligently to foster ongoing, intentional connections with our home members through visitation, phone calls, meals and communion.
