Thursday Morning Adult Study | 9:30am to 11:30am in the Rooks Room

Looking for a warm and welcoming Bible study? Join our Thursday morning group! We’re a group of women (and sometimes men) who meet weekly from September through May to delve into God’s word, enjoy fellowship, and pray for each other. Our studies use curriculum from Lifeway or Cokesbury, led by facilitators. We watch DVDs together and engage in thoughtful discussions based on the study guides. All are welcome, and we encourage you to join us as you’re able—no formal commitment is needed. We’re an informal group that values honest, heartfelt sharing. Throughout the year, we also support missions and those in need.

Beginning January 15, 2026. In this 8-session study on the book of Galatians, author and Bible teacher, Elizabeth Woodson reveals that the struggle to fully embrace our freedom in Christ is not a new problem. Walking verse-by-verse through Paul’s letter, Elizabeth highlights how this letter teaches us that in the gospel alone do we gain what we desire—freedom from sin and freedom to experience true peace, living the abundant life Jesus offers. You may purchase the study guide, LIVE FREE at Lifeway.com or Amazon.com. We meet in the Rooks room from 9:30-11:30am on Thursdays. All are welcome!

Small Groups

Small Groups Return February 1!

Whether you’re new to the church or looking to deepen your faith, small groups are a great way to grow spiritually and connect with others in a meaningful way. We are kicking off four new small groups this fall. Some are centered around an activity and others are focused on a stage of life. The groups will meet for six weeks, starting the second week of September. Learn more about our small groups below:

Empty Nester Group (Wednesdays at 7:00pm):

The Empty Nester Ministry is a group of women navigating the exciting and challenging transition into the empty nest season of life. Whether your children have left home or are about to, this group offers a space to share experiences, reflect on family dynamics, and grow. In this season of change, we focus on embracing personal growth, redefining our roles, and deepening our faith as we walk alongside one another and explore both the joys and challenges of this new chapter. As we strengthen our relationships with each other and with God, we’ll foster a community built on empathy, wisdom, and understanding.

Centering Prayer Group (Thursdays at 6:30pm):

Centering Prayer invites participants to nurture God’s presence within by sitting in silence, letting go of thoughts, and resting in stillness, fostering a sense of inner peace and communion with the divine. By combining lectio divina and centering prayer, the group integrates active engagement with scripture and contemplative silence, creating a holistic rhythm that nurtures spiritual growth.

Thirsty for the Word Group (Thursdays at 7:00pm):

Come, refresh your soul after a long week! Meet new friends for fellowship and a short dialogue about the prior Sunday’s sermon. We’ll discuss topics like how we might have applied the teachings, and how we may have seen God working in our lives during the week. Then, hang out together to connect, meet new folks, and recharge our social batteries.

Every time we meet is a chance to grow, support others, and become more like Jesus.

Create Your Own Small Group

Christian faith flourishes through relationships with other believers, and these relationships have the power to change us. Small groups empower us through group dialogue to become the Gospel message for the world. These groups are able to spend enough time together that they have relationships with one another and spend enough time with Jesus to have a relationship with Him.

Love to lunch, go to movies, read the latest best sellers, or have an informal bible study at your home? Why not create your own small group with something you enjoy doing with others?

If you are interested in starting or joining a small group, contact Pastor Wendy Barnes at  wendy@jumc.org

Sunday School Classes

A variety of classes are available for adults of all ages. These Sunday morning offerings take place between the morning worship services from 9:45am-10:45am on our Jamestown UMC campus.

Supper Clubs

To encourage fellowship outside of the church campus, “Supper Clubs” have been created. Typically a group consists anywhere from 12 – 30 people, singles and couples with mixed ages. The clubs meet at restaurants or member’s homes.  This is an evolving ministry, and more groups can be formed.

Please feel free to contact the church office for more information.
