How We Worship
At Jamestown United Methodist Church, we gather each week for one blended worship service that brings together the best of our traditions and contemporary expressions. Worship is at the heart of our life together, centered on God’s Word, the celebration of the sacraments, and a vibrant music ministry that inspires and glorifies the Lord.
Our Congregation
Comprised of young and old, our congregation is a welcoming and diverse community of faith, united by our shared belief in Jesus Christ. We actively engage in serving our community through acts of love and compassion, are committed to spiritual growth and discipleship, and are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where all people feel valued and included.
Why We Love Our Community
Jamestown is such a special town and at JUMC we strive to love our community and invite all to discover life in Christ. Whether through our music ministry, children’s events, or mission opportunities, we seek to love our community through outreach and service.
How We Got Started
In 1819, early Methodists of Jamestown worshiped in a small building belonging to the Society of Friends located in the City Lake area. The first known Jamestown Methodist Church was built in 1838 in “Old Jamestown.” By 1889, the Methodists of Jamestown had completed construction of their own church on the present site of Jamestown United Methodist Church. After a fire in 1926, and numerous building additions throughout generations, the building that you see today was completed in 2003.
